IRMAA Planning
See how MAGI decisions can affect Medicare premiums two years later.
What IRMAA Means
The Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount can increase Medicare Part B and Part D premiums when Modified Adjusted Gross Income (MAGI) crosses an applicable threshold. FinDash shows the thresholds and estimated premium impact for planning; it does not determine the amount ultimately assessed by Medicare.
Two-Year Lookback
Use IRMAA MAGI Lookback in Roth Strategy Lab to connect an income year with the Medicare premium year two years later. Confirm the relevant tax year, filing status, and client Medicare timing before relying on a threshold.
Where to Review It
Open IRMAA Planning View in Roth Strategy Lab for conversion planning. Tax scenario comparison also includes MAGI & Phase-Out Analysis and Medicare Premium Analysis (Deductible Medical Expenses) for scenario-level review.
Use Thresholds as Guardrails
Compare conversion schedules, capital gains, charitable strategies, and income timing against the displayed thresholds. Thresholds and premiums change by year, and life-changing-event appeals are outside the calculation, so verify current rules before final implementation.
