Account Linking
Connect accounts for live balances, transactions, and holdings where supported.
Live Account Connections
Use Plaid from Net Worth when the client can link a bank, credit card, loan, mortgage, or investment account. Linked accounts can populate balances and may also provide transactions and holdings depending on the institution.
Feature Gate and Client Consent
Plaid access can be enabled or disabled by firm configuration. When enabled, clients authenticate through Plaid and FinDash stores a secure access token rather than the client's bank credentials.
Review After Linking
After the accounts appear, confirm account type, owner, tax treatment, estate inclusion, visibility, and whether each account should feed cash-flow transaction analysis, net-worth reporting, or both.
Troubleshooting
If a connection breaks or data becomes stale, use refresh or reconnect controls. Institution MFA changes, password changes, closed accounts, or firm-level Plaid settings can all affect sync.
When Not to Link
Use manual accounts or document import for private investments, real estate, business interests, held-away values that should not sync, and accounts the client does not want connected.
